hmm well that doesn't look to good then... i planned on getting a new amp anyways this one would be cheaper to buy a new one then to have it repaired..

by solacedagony » Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:09 pm

Wow, that was right on.

Edit: My 2500d just started doing that. Someone at DIYMA told me that it's from a blown power supply. In any case, I sent my amp out to Zed Audio to get repaired. It's getting delivered today so I'm expecting a call today or tomorrow on what exactly is wrong. I'll let you know.

an amp is kinda like a girlfriend.

if you stress them too much, they will blow a fuse

if you work them too much, they will just shut down

if you hook them up, they work for awhile, the just quit for no reason

if you pound them, they seem to get hotter as you go

and for some reason, they just seem to quit working, so that is when you have to get a newer model.

oh...and if you find them dead, it is never an easy thing to explain why

i'll do that later. i looked a little bit for charring and seen none unless theres some on the otherside of the board which looks liek it would be hell to get too... but i'm gonna go down to the lake for a bit i'll post some pics later. thx guys.

You can check continuity (spelling)? between the solder lines. Look for any charring on the board. If you take pictures of the board and post them someone here may be able to see something.

hmm is there any way i can test it myself with a voltometer thing... if so what sections of the circuit board should i test?

by brent » Wed Aug 02, 2006 11:20 am

Sometimes they do. Before totally giving up you may have a local shop bench test it. Sorry to hear that, hopefully the problem will come to light soon for you, and you won;t have to get a new amp.

by jeep1990 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 11:18 am

yep i tried all that... i just dont see why the amp would just go bad like that...

Check your ground very closely. It is sparking because you have a problem either with the power or the ground. Check you power connections on the battery as well. Where is the amp grounded. You hooked the other amp up to the exact wiring that the power acoustic is on? If so, then probably bad amp?
