My adive, do whatever is easiest. You should always be able to find a way around removing the whole dash.

That "box" might be the air circulation system, so probably best not to mess with it. Use the other grommet if it is easy. A few extra feet of wire never killed anyone.

I'm back again, only now I have most of the pieces to the simple system I'm trying to create. I have a 1993 Honda Civic coupe. I want to run the wire through the firewall at the spot behind the battery where a grommet is already in place. My question goes out to anyone who's installed an amp in a 92-95 civic, or anything similar. Should I remove the entire dashboard? there's a big black plastic enclosure behind the glovebox blocking the grommet, not sure what it is, or if i should try and remove it. The drivers side has a grommet that might be easily accessible, but then I'd have to run wire across the engine compartment to get to the battery. I'd be very grateful for advice from anyone who's had experience with these cars! Thanks in advance!
