I will remember this forever lol I think i might throw some baffles around my current speakers soon when i do my next fiberglass project

you may have the front and back wave seperation covered but when you mount a speaker to a wood baffle instead of metal you help control intermodulation distortion that can be cause by vibrations or other unwanted coloration that is not a characteristic of the speaker itself that may occur by mounting to a thin piece of metal whether or not it is deadened with dynamat or not....

oooh yea oops well then again i just sealed around mine with Dyna mat so i figured separation was good enough there.

no....bad installer bad....you want the front and back waves to be seperated.....you can do it but not that way

first of all check for depth and make sure that you know how much room you need to clear your window when you roll it down...then take the stock speaker and flip it over on mdf of appropriatte thickness and trace the outline....then take your new speaker and flip it over centered over the outline of the stock speaker and trace its shape onto the mdf...you now have your outer dimensions traced...the reason for this is to make a piece as close to the stock speaker as possible while still being a little larger so as to mount the new speaker...then cut your hole for the new speaker out first and then cut out the rest of the mount....i prefer to paint them at this point but you dont have to....mount the new baffle and then mount the speaker to it. now you will have no cancellation

you could probably build an enclosure to fit. i know kicker makes 6.5's to fit in 5x7 holes
