Its not an easy decision to make, by no means.

I understand the alternator situation too. Just an FYI, Bill at Knukonceptz leaked word that he's getting into HO alts... something to consider maybe. I'd like to get a few years out of my stock alt though, its not even a month old yet.

^thanks

I am going to order everything today, subsequent to my coming amp thread.

My stock alternator is 140a and I do not plan on getting a HO alt anytime soon. Also, I am stuck on giving subs (at least the ones I can afford) the power (i.e. watts according to their thermal rms rating) or close to the power they ask for. So I think I'd end up doing better with the Diamond D6's anyhow (as opposed to the 1500w CVX's).

You should've seen how much talk I put up on this board (and others) about the CVX's.

:thumbsup

Sonso from your comments in the thread, I think you want the Diamonds.
I'd expect the Kickers to get louder, I'd expect the Diamonds to sound better.

the diamonds get loud 2 one of the meca guys compeates with 4 D3's (10's) and does upwards of 157 on 2 vfl400.1s in a rex of course.

^noted and appreciated, but I have excuses

That JL sub is gonna cost me about $200 more than 2 diamond D6's.

The RE's seem to always be back ordered and problems of the like. If there were to be an issue I'd like it to be easy to resolved....

Anyhow, as I mature audio-ly I'll probably better appreciate such an approach. Nevertheless, your input augments my car audio knowledge.

I still say for space and SQ being important issues, go with one high excursion SQ oriented sub like an older RE XXX, or a 13W7 or similar sub instead of powering two 12" subs and using twice the enclosure space.

just a suggestion though

2 12" Kicker CVX's versus 2 12" Diamond D6's

The Diamond D6's are 600w each, total of 1200w (...rms of course. I know, it's sad that I even write that)

amp-> I want a new amp, from eBay (I keep limiting myself) so the JBL 1200.1 may be a hard find. No need to worry though, there will be a thread coming soon now that I am pretty certain about my sub selection.

thanks :thumbsup

Go with an JBL 1200.1 :) Cheap, and powerfull!! Whats the RMS on the D6's btw??

by sonso_chi » Sun Apr 23, 2006 8:45 pm

looks like the Diamonds win...and to think, I did all that talk and consideration regarding the Kicker CVX's...

I thank you all kindly :thumbsup

now on to an amplifier again....

with consideration and reconsideration another thread is right around the corner...I'll try to hold out until I come up with a list of finalist...

I'd stick with the Diamonds, you will be happy with em.
