Around September 25th or so I placed my order at acaraudio.com for a Jl 300/4 amp for 375$+shipping. After no shipping info a week later and many calls to their business (which has horrible customer service--they just try to hold you off) I recieved my amp on October 5th or so, which is double the time they told me it would take.
When I installed the amp, the yellow light stayed on and the amp did not power the outputs. I emailed JL and asked about it and they told me when online un-authorized dealers sell the amps they open them up and take out the serial numbers, and if they arent skilled in putting them back together they blow a FET.
Sure enough I took it to get it repaired and a FET was burnt out. Cost 135$ for parts and labor. Im now at about 525$ in cost for this amp. Prior to emailing JL about the problem I attempted to take the amp back to acaraudio.com....a week had passed after my first email regarding an RA# (return authorization) after no ra# for a week I called and recieved one...by that time I had already taken the amp to have it repaired.
Customer Service: 5 -- They answer their email 50% of the time and they answer their phones but aren't of much help
Product: 3 The amp works now but after 135$ of repairs.
Warranty/Shipping/Returns: 0... No warranty (unauthorized), Late shipping (box was dented up too), Bad return policy and hard time to contact for RA#
Professional: No, not skilled in electrical work and at one point I wanted to talk to the manager of the site and tell him that this is not the way you do business.
Overall: 3 ... I would definetly not buy from there again, only reason it has some points is because I was able to contact them and the amp wasnt completely dead
Just buy from the authorized dealer. If I wouldve bought the amp from cartoys, I wouldve spent 10$ and i would have a warranty.
