i just took a kef instant theatre back to cc.it had a 12" sealed sub.it was one of those two speaker systems,my wife wanted one to eliminate wires and to have more rearangement options,turns out that there was realy no other way to put our living room anyway...i no have an onkyo tx-sr503 and an infinity tss-450 surround system with an lg pro.scan dvd player,i'll tell you what,for an 8" sub this infinity is pretty impressive.i have a jvc th-m505 home theatre sydtem for sale if you're interested,this is it

i paid $499.00 for it at sears about 2 yrs. ago,i would like to get around $250.00 for it,lmk

so you want a 2.1 and you want some kinda good book self speaker. the rear speakers are the satelites that add rear fill. werent you thinking about getting an RE sub? if so use that for home audio. even the cheapest car sub is better than the ones in the boxes. and get a pair of these for your bookshelfs http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl ... er=300-642 and watch ebay for a good reciever with a sub out thats powered and you can run that RE sub off of that till you get enough for a plate amp.

i gues the thing is... is that im not looking for a full 7.1 system... i just want 2 speakers (called satellites i guess?), a receiver, and the subwoofer

you cant get a very good htiab from walmart but their is some pretty decent ones out there for not too much more than the walmart crap. make sure you adution it before you buy.

not at all. I've seen plenty of decent HTiaB solutions. They're getting better every year, too.
for $500, the cost of a decent entry level AV receiver, you can get a good Onkyo HTiaB with 7.1 speaker system. All you do is add a $100 DVD player and the TV and you're done.

limited budget, best bet for home audio is a home theater in a box.
get an all in one system that includes the sub/sats

I am big into home audio and quality sound. Do your research and listen to as many systems/speakers as possible.

My preference for speakers and subs are:
ascendacoustics.com
hsuresearch.com

You will not find better sound quality for the money anywhere else.

you can pretty much put together alot of differnt drivers like 3 woofs a mid and a tweeter if you want but the hardest part is figuring out the crossover which is what im trying to get right now i had to buy a 90 dollar program too so that sucks.
