alright thanks, thats what i thoughtbut wastn quite pos. thanks for your time

If you have two 4 ohm, DVC subs, you can wire the voice coils of the individual subs in a parallel config so each sub acts as a 2 ohm driver, then wire the subs together in a series configuration to the amplifier, so the amp will see a 4 ohm load.

yeah sorry they are DVC, i was talking to glasswolf, and from what he said it sounded like if they are dvc's then 2 4ohm subs would yeild a 4 ohm load?? sorry this is taking so long im just confused and dont want to mess up and buy the wrong things. and again thanks for your time

eh.

These are DVC subs I take it? Figures.

If so then what he said ^^^

Seems like people dont provide the proper info anymore...

No, two 4-ohm subs (or voice coils) wired in parallel yeild a 2 ohm load on the amplifier. Two 2-ohm subs (or voice coils) wired in series yeild a 4 ohm load on the amplifer (all of which is what Ryan said above).

That JBL amp is both 1 and 2 ohm stable, but it is designed to put out the same amount of power out at each, so either 1 or 2 ohm load on the amp is what you'd want if your subs can handle 600 wRMS each. The higher the number of ohms, the less power it puts out.

Read the FAQ section for more information.

i found the subs i want, but they are 4 ohms, so your saying that this wont work and that i need to get them in 2 ohms to wire them together?

by Ryan from Ohio » Tue Nov 09, 2004 7:09 am

2 4 Ohm suns wired= 2 Ohms connected.

You need 2 2Ohm subs and wire them in series for a 4 Ohm load.

by mlbskuzz10 » Mon Nov 08, 2004 8:38 pm

what if i get the subs in a 4 ohm impedance, because the amp is 600 watts rms at 4 ohms? would 300 watts be fine for the 2 subs

by Dustin from Huntsville » Mon Nov 08, 2004 8:25 pm

If you kept the gains low and watched your volume you'd be okay. But most people can't do that :)

by mlbskuzz10 » Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:33 pm

yeah your right, they are 400 rms. Is there a way that i could give em only 400 a piece with that amp
