I'd keep the 3.1 as a nice daily driver, and build a 383 for the 305 car....
Bone stock, there's about a 30hp and 50lb/ft difference. Never had the purple 3.1 to the strip, but similar cars/motors run about 18 sec and mid 70mph. My 305 bone stock ran 16.3 @ 84mph, with headers and 3" exhaust, a slightly better 15.8 @ 86mph. The V6 F-bodies with the proper suspension are better suited to road race than the V8 cars, they don't have the straight away speed, but they rule the in the turns because of the weight distribution.

I wish i could be doing the things i want to my truck.... taking the 4.8 out and puting a 6.0 in it would be nice.... one day if i ever strike it rich.
Thanks, but it takes good pictures. It needs paint and all the weather stripping. Both doors rattle badly, but not as much as the did when I bought it 2 years ago. Most of the work it needs now is cosmetic, but I have to go farther than that

The purple one I've had sine 1997 and has my latest sound system in it, I've kept it mostly stock except for the interior which I've had reupholstered and installed a digital dash.
