by the time you get a wide flat response from one, you have such little gain you may as well just go ported and get the same results.
there are exceptions, i once had a standard cab ranger and wanted good sound and at 6'1" and 245 lbs putting anything behind the seat was a no go...so into the bed went a bandpass that was designed at -3db gain for a nice response but it was the only way i was gonna get the sound i wanted into the truck......in that particular case there was no way i was gonna get anything ported to fit inside the truck

the tradeoff with bandpass boxes for a flat, wide frequency response is efficiency.

ive tried to design a sixth order b4 but according to the model it wouldve only been good at 20 to 40 hz.
ive been trying to learn alot more about sub boxes lately cuz i have alot more free time on my hands now that ive stared a new job and want to build something other than sealed boxes

My sub is still going strong in my 6th and sounds awesome.

I had an SQ guy over the other day demoing the system, mainly the Mc. He couldnt believe that was just a single 8" sub...

:thumbsup

glass you can manipulate the proportions to play music very well as long as your pass band is wide. i designed one that plays from 28hz to 70hz and is louder than hell in mookies truck. ill catch you on aim to dicuss.

designed and used 6th and 8th order. one note wonders. far more trouble than they're worth, and if you're not exact in both design and construction, the moment you feed power to the sub(s) you'll get to experience a cone blowing right out of a basket.

if you want i can design you one.

thats what ive read
i havent found any plans for one other than a plan for a 5.25 in dayton speaker

scott owens uses one and hes the loudest in the world. bandpasses are incredibly temperamental and can cause catastrophic failures.
