Depends on what kind of foam it is.

If its a closed cell and its heavy/somewhat stiff, should work.

http://www.raammat.com for good mat/Ensolite.

http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com is a good site for understanding what sound deadening is, how it works and why you should use it.

a buddy of mine works in a shop and they use a type of foam with a sticky back to it...it is made for automobile use..........is this stuff like dynamat in any way? im tryin to go about a cheap way of sound dampening the trunk for better sound and less rattle....im just curious if this would have any kind of effect on that....or can someone tell me what dynamat is made out of...and info would be greatly appreciated...

p.s. removing the 6x9's outta my buick helped with the bass a little ...thx for that idea
