Well the car should be done no later than sunday. The motor should atleast be sitting in the car tomorrow. Then finished up saturday or sunday at the latest.

And darth, the 86 mustang gt was 1.3 seconds faster from 0-60mph, and .08 faster in the 1/4 mile than the 86 camaro iroc z28. Hot rod magazine did a "shoot out" between the two cars, lets just say the camaro didnt do so well...

Heres a link to the shoot out by hotrod magazine. http://foureyedpride.com/fep_bild/album53

If you ever drove one of the 305 camaros then you would understand... 305's arent exactly known for their power, and for some reason gm praised it... :sad017:

If you want one I have a 1982 Pro-street Camaro for sale! heh
electric blue, tubbed, gutted, full cage, fuel cell, slicks, street and strip gears included, 383 stroker, fully chromed.
locker rear. It's fast.

PS, dump the stock heads, and get ones with better flow :)

Yep, you could always get one of those TPI powered F-body shitboxes from the same era :bow .

And, I'd personally go 351W over 347 Stroker. Stronger block, taller deck, not as many potential oil control issues. It's heavier, but it'll last longer and, of course, you always have the potential to stroke that and get a healthy 400+ cubes.

Cams, look at the Comp roller cam kits with the beehive springs. Those springs really help extend your RPM with the heavy hydraulic roller lifters

Guy I know got the new BBK SSI intake and it is NICE. Probably the best all around intake I've ever seen for a 5.0 engine. I'm a fan of AFR heads, too, but ported stocks aren't too bad. I still like the aftermarket heads for the typical design advantage in both chamber and port design, most places can't port stock heads worth a crap unless it's a reputable company CNC machining them.

I was about to say it wouldn't be a bad idea to rebuild the tranny since it's already out. You can upgrade them to handle about 500lb/ft, ya know, G-force transmissions has a ton of internal upgrades as well as their own T5 case if you're going extreme. Or you could just go to a Tremec T56 or TKO :D

T5s aren't really that bad. It's usually shifting style that kills them more than torque. And, of course, whatever "fuse" you have. Say you have slicks that hook VERY well, that means the tranny is taking the abuse.

The tranny is a stock t5. :sad017: And yes I know, the t5's are crap. I'm going to rebuild the one out of the 87 so I always have a spare. :happy055:

I'm keeping the fuel injection. Like I said, the motor and all its accessories (intake, tb, heads, headers, and also the computer) are from the 87, which should increase the horsepower from 200 to 225.

With this motor there isnt any need to switch to mass air, but when the new motor (maybe a 347 stroker) I will have to convert to mass air because I plan to run a bigger cam... Really though, until you start messing with the injector size and/or cam the speed density isnt a horrible set up, in fact stock vs stock the speed density makes a few more hp than mass air...

I could pick up a 96 5.0 explorer motor, do a little port and polish work on the heads and intake, run a small cam, and do the usual bolt ons for around a grand and be pretty close to 300 rwhp while maintaining the speed density... which I might do! Ahhh, the decisions.

Pulled the motor out of the 87 and put it on the stand a few weeks ago. I finally tore it apart and everything is in great shape. I'm tossing on a set of ported and polished stock heads, complete gasket set, water pump, timing chain, having the flywheel turned and installing a new clutch kit. I painted the block black, leaving the top end silver. The motor ran real strong in the 87 but while it was out I figured I would fresh'n it up a little.

After searching forever I found a transmission, ended up setting me back 400 bucks, ouch...

The motor should be finished and mated to the tranny on monday. Because I'm so busy right now I decided to let my uncle install the motor and trans and get it running. It SHOULD by this coming up weekend, key world being should.

Heres a link to pictures of the car. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2534112/1

I took the wheels and tires off the 87 and put them on the 86, I want to get some diffrent rims soon (either the corba or bullet rims).
