Any of them. That lines are the calculate FR based on the box. As you can see, the ported box gives you a lower F3, but rolls off much faster. The sealed box has the low end extension, and rolls off more shallowly, but has a higher F3. The ported box will also have worse transient response. Trade offs.

well the box you have now sucks out loud lol. i would go with which ever box the red one is on the second diagram. or the purple one that is slightly oversized.

I downloaded BassBox 6.0 and tried to follow the directions to graph the dif sized ported boxes as best as i could using the T/s parameters of my sub. However, since I'm still very new to car audio, I'm not sure how to read the chart. Am I looking for a curve that's smooth with no humps at all like the curve for the sealed box? I'm thinking that I would want my box to be tuned to 32 hz since that seems to be a safe frequency for rap/hiphop/RnB. However, I'm still not sure what you guys mean when you're telling me to look at the graph to see what size enclosure would work the best. The following curves are for the following:

white= my current 1.0 cubic ft sealed box
yellow= 1.25 cubic ported tuned to 32 hz
orange= 1.50 cubic ported tuned to 32 hz
red= 1.75 cubic ported tuned to 32 hz
purple= 2.0 cubic ported tuned to 32 hz

Here is another chart comparing the current sealed box I have (white), and the 2 prefab boxes that I'm trying to decide between right now.

The 1.5 cubic ft tuned to 35 hz (yellow) and the 2.0 cubic ft tuned to 32 hz (red).

I appreciate you guys recommending that I get a box custom made but unfortunately I don't have that much money to spend and I heard from other people over on other forums that these prefabs were decently made and is a really good deal for me (since I can pickup and not pay shipping, 60.00 for the 1.5 and 70.00 for the 2.0 cubic ft).

Hmm I don't know if the optimum ported enclosure specs for the 10" CVX is 1.25 cubic ft. The manual states the range for the Ported enclosure to be 1.25-1.75 cubic feet (with the 1.75 cubic feet recommended I believe). However, I had someone on this forum calculate what the frequency was for the 1.75 cubic ft Kicker recommended enclosures and I believe it was 40 hz tuning, which to me seems a bit high.

get a quote from one of the guys on this forum for the proper box, dont by prefabs.

like i said before my info might be off but you cant go wrong with using the MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS. I believe that sub is optimum in a 1.25 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 38hz. Neither box is even close to the recommendation. And one thing you will learn quickly is never base your system off what some other retard thinks is good on the street. Just becuase un educated people throw a sub in a 3.0 cube enclosure by no means makes it good. yes some HUge subs need it, MOST dont. call kickers tech line, or email them.

It'd be much more beneficial for you to figure out how everything works than for someone to just tell you. You should download WinISD, find all the T/S specs for it (I'm sure the Kicker dealers on here can get them for you if you absolutely can't find them), and play with volume sizes and see the change in calculated FR.

hmm I don't have winsid and don't really know quite how to use those box making programs. Would someone mind perhaps inputting the specs for the 10" CVX into there for me and tell me which of those boxes would yield better results? (1.5 cubic ft at 35 hz) or (2.0 cubic ft at 32 hz).

I can't find XMAX on my sub or anything like that but here's the kicker manual which shows some of the specs

word give win isd a try

You guys should model some boxes in WinISD to get the idea of what changing box size does to your sub.

I would assume that manufacturers would give you box size for a .707 Q (flat response).

A larger box (than flat) will make your bottom roll off more steep and will start making a gain right after the roll off. This is all in a sealed box, I'm not familiar with the changes that would happen in a ported or any other type of box, since I've never modelled one.
