probably not, but I think it's what he had at the time... I still say it was probably just a bad fuse, so just go get a lil pack of em when you get the chance... You don't want to fry your Sirius, when fuses are so much cheaper.

Yep, that was what it was, a fuse problem. I put a slow burn fuse in, and it worked like a charm. Thanks for your inputs! :thumbsup

Sounds like it may have just been a bad fuse... I'd try another one before we try to come to any other conclusions.

Here is a link to the HU I have, http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=1080597647839 I actually have 2 12v constant wires, and 1 switched 12v. I found out that the wire that I had not hooked up yet, was the 12v 3 amp. It supplies power to the CeNet cable, in which accessories can be installed like a cd changer, TV tuner, satelite tuner, etc. I did run a lead from a constant 12v source in the fuse box, with a 3 amp inline fuse, and it blew the fuse instantly. I thought about installing a slow burning 3 amp fuse, to see if that might work. When everything is installed correctly, the HU will recognize what is hooked up.

The 3 amp line is probably the switched 12V- which is the red wire.

The yellow 12V is the constant, which tends to have more current.

Read over your sirius tuners directions carefuly.

are you sure you put in the right model number for your h/u... I can't even find a 745 model from Clarion?

Problem installing Sirius tuner to Clarion head unit?

by greataudioposcar » Sun Dec 31, 2006 9:53 am

I have a Clarion dxz745mp head unit that is Sirius ready. I bought the SIR-CL2 tuner model, and installed it. My head unit won't even recognize that it is even there. Now I have a subscription, the equipment to listen to it, but it doesn't work. I pulled the deck out to see if all the wires, and the CeNet cable was still hooked up, and everything seemed to be good there. I did notice that I never used one of the 12v constant power wires off of the head unit. I read somewhere that one of the 12v wires is 3 amp, and the other is a 15 amp. Don't know if that is significant or not, but that was the only wire not hooked up. I hooked up the wire not being used, to a 12v source, and it shut the whole dash unit off. Very frustrating, please help.
