But it will sound better with an amp, just for clarification. :) I noticed a difference between running 150W to a 2-way passive component set and 125W per driver in an active 2-way. None of my drivers can actually TAKE that much power, but extra headroom is always good. Just be careful to not go overboard with the volume knob when you do have that much power on tap.

Yea, you shouldnt have a problem with powering those speakers with a HU. They were probably made with the intention of being stock replacements off of an aftermarket HU.

nah, im getting pioneer speakers with an RMS of 35 watts and a pioneer h/u with an RMS of 22 watts, will the speakers still sound decent with only 22 watts going to them?

by swimmerdude » Mon Jan 08, 2007 3:25 pm

If you only get a mono-block amp, it will only power your sub. Then what do you have left... only your HU to power speakers unless you buy a second 2 or 4channel amp to power all of them, but i wouldnt reccommend it if you still have stock speakes.

i would start a new thread for this, but its related to the amp in this forum, i that if i get a mono channel amp, it would only be power the sub. but is there anything to power my speakers now other than the h/u? im just not sure how it all works, cuz the speakers would also require MUCH less power than the sub would

i said it before ill say it again, if low notes were better reproduced with a square sub then our buttholes would be square too.......

Sorry couldn't resist. Stick with the round subs, they are alot better design.
i disagree with you on this one. just because the new l series are vastly improved. much lower failure rate. sq is improved although there still not that great. if your going for sq u deffinatly dont want a kicker l7 if your going for spl / sql the l7 isnt a bad choice but there is better out there. if you want squares look at the hifonics atlas/brutus subs great sq and great spl. the Atlas is actually louder than the l7 direct drop in tests and sounds much much better.
