Mike, Exactly why did it get parked about a year ago? This very problem? Another? :)
I new the alt was bad and at least one of the coils, not sure about the rest of the system...
Remember that flooding we had last year... It got stuck in one of those 3.5 foot puddles... It did start right up after we let it dry and oil change and ran for about 2 months then the alt took a dump and I knew at least one of the coils was going bad... was misfiring.

Yeah it's a 3800

Which engine is in the Regal? Basically, if it's the 3800 the coils *may* work, but the ignition control module(icm) is totally different from the 2.8 stuff. But, if it has anything else under the hood then it's guaranteed to work.

I gave him some coils packs from the 2.8 motor I had, 5 to be exact.

Not sure if they are the same coils or not?

Does it get fuel as well, or no fuel? There is a scraeder vavle on the fuel rail. Take off the cap and press the little button to test the pressure.

The ICM/Coil Packs do go bad. I forget, does that have a 3.1 or a 3800? If it has a 3800, you will need to get another set of coils/icm off another 3800. If a 3.1, then you can get it off any 2.8, 3.1, 3100, 3400 equipped vehicle. Not that it matters to you, but the newer 3100/3400 icm's have a better spark curve.

Man oh Man, I can't wait to start on my wall!

Doesn't have a distributor....electronic ignition.
We think it might be a bad relay or the ignition module.

by ZeroAccess » Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:51 pm

Gonna ask some dumb questions, does the rotor button spin in the distributor?

I know you said you had a mechanic check it out just wondering

by cargodz » Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:24 pm

Only turns at the crank... no spark
