i third the JVC AVX-2.
you can also burn movies files (not sure of file type though) straight to a DVD, and it will play it on the screen.

Hmm. I thought I read in different reviews of it that it does read MP3's off of DVD's, even tho it isn't clear on the site. I did hear that reading MP3's off a dvd is a little bit slower, but that is understandable. However, I know there is a physical limit on the Alpine player of 1024 songs per disc.

I'm getting the Alpine 9861 for xmas (thanks g/f!) The main differences between the units other than some minor cosmetics, is the 4 volt outs and being HD ready, etc.

From what I'm gathering by looking at alpine's website, the 9860 will not do MP3s on DVD. You need to upgrade to the 9861 to do that. Good thing you're getting the 9861 :)

Well, I got the AVX2 headunit along with some other goodies (the IDMAX12-D2, and CDT-Audio ES-620 comps). I was actually supposed to get the ES-610s... but they ran out.

Anyways, everything looks awesome. I'll let you guys know how I feel about it once its all in.

I've always thought the avx2 was a very nice unit, I would definitely consider buying it.

You won't be disappointed with that JVC... and actually they have been known for good SQ for quite some time, even on their lower lines.

Alright, my "system" has a new headunit. Good thing I figured all this out before taking a trip down to woofersetc and picking up all the goods :) So i'm currently at:

JVC-KDAVX2
CDT-Audio ES-610
Audison 2.150
Audison 1.400
Image Dynamics IDMAX12

mmm.... I can't wait.

Sell it back to me! ;)

I thought the SQ on the AVX2 was excellent, built in 7 band eq as well!
