Had about a similar issue as Zero but over a digital camera, it was about 7-8 years ago.

Kid jumped infront of me and stole my ticket!

SInce then its always discouraged shopping on that Friday. I actually dont like the horde because of it.

Ive also vowed if anything like that happens to me again, I will right that wrong... lol... So I might make the news one of these days...

I went to Best buy a few years ago when they had scanners that were originally 150 dollars or so for 15 dollars. I was on a mission it was my first Black Friday (I was 16ish) waited in line all morning. Well Best Buy opens the exit doors first and these people that had been driving by all morning jump out of the car and break the exit door open. Were all standing there while EVERYONE in the parking lot breaks the door down. Finally said the hell with it and ran inside. Found the area where the scanners were and its utter chaos everyone is screaming where are the scanners when no joke this guy who works there climbed a pole and pointed at me ME!! I freaked and turned around and saw the scanners I shoved/pushed them all over the place and grabbed two for myself. While at the checkout line the cashier ask if I'm ok ..I'm like yea why do you ask apparently I had been bitten numerous times and had blood trickling down my arms, shoulders, back, etc. So yea Black Friday can just kiss my ....

Maybe Office Depot wasn't busy... near you.

Here, I went into Circuit City because a friend of mine is a manager there.
They opened at 5am this morning. When he arrived at 4am, there was already a line that formed around the building, and not able to double up on itself, headed over towards the Olive Garden next door. Casually asking one of the people in line who was near where he parked (around the side of the building - "wall #2" for the line), they replied that they were in line at midnight!

Having just bought a couple big SD cards for my camera, and a new MP3 player that I own that also uses SD cards, I bought a small USB SD card reader from Circuit City via their website. On sale, normally almost $20, it was on sale for $15 and with a $10 rebate, so $5. I bought it and chose "in store pickup" since that Circuit City is so close to me.

So I got there at 9am, just to see - figured I'd stroll in to the "customer pickup" counter while everyone else was battling over whatever goofy specials they were suckering people in with.

I walked into the front door, and the customer pickup counter is about halfway into the store - the line for customer pickup (4 HOURS AFTER THEY OPENED) was all the way to the front door! The line for every single register was about 40-50 people deep, no joke.

And I don't understand why... Circuit City had a good special on some cheap laptops, cheap desktops, and a couple other goodies. Each of them, they had all of 20 or 25 of, and they would have sold out entirely by about 5:10am.

I left there and went into Sears since it was actually in the mall across the parking lot, and it wasn't quite as ridiculous, but it was still pretty crazy.

My conclusion was quite seriously that I don't care WHAT they had on special, or free even - for how long you had to wait in line, just for the CHANCE to get one of the few available [with the odds against you] - it simply wasn't worth it, even if you DID manage to get one.

ehh... went down to the ford dealership, foudn out they want a fucking whopping $12000 for this truck i want... damn near $4000 over KBB.. they said they coudl go down to $10k, so we're going to try and talkem to $9500ish.

i don't usually like to have anything to do with black friday... tried last year, waited in traffic for nearly 30 minutes (bad in my city) to get to best buy. i think they say right now the busiest shopping day is the saturday before christmas.. i'll have more money buy then so i may take a chance and buy some new toys then

i heard a rumor that bestbuy had TVs for 30% off. I was going to buy the 42" 1080p aquos, but the rumor turned out to be bogus (lucky for my bank account).

I ended up getting a nice rollaway toolchest from sears and some random clothes
