7998 pwns! I had one for about a week lol. I believe it was the first headunit to rock bio-light, and it is an amazing sq head unit

Well, I just bought one. Actually, got its big brother, the 7998. The 7998 doesn't have an internal amplifier but has a much nicer display:

Much nicer than the one in Ryans post.

I believe them had an issue with getting stuck...

Just a heads up, I would research it a bit more.

Can I ask why you would want that deck? For the phone feature?

Actually here it is, straight from ALpine:

So if you dont use an Alpine amp, it may not fold up into itself...

:p What another way for a Mfg to say it just sometimes doesnt work...lol

How to find old HUs

How do you guys look up model numbers on older head units? I'm trying to find an Alpine that is a few years old and am having no luck.

Maybe someone knows it....
- It is a standard DIn unit, but the face is slightly larger than a normal face
- Instead of the normal 6 buttons on bottom, it has at least 10 because I believe a phone could be hooked up to it
- The face slides into the unit itself to hide
- It is at least 3 years old

I have been trying to find this unit all day but have had no luck.
