hey no problem.I understand...mine went whacky but I always fuse first/power last. I reversed every connection and saved my ass. It recovered.
The amp did work on RF RR but did not power left channel. Those 2 speakers are wired normal + - 4 wires. the other 2 somehow integrate the display features and EQ not factory amp. Those 2 wires were wired independent of the other 4 normal connections but when seperated they both went offline.
I tried to tie in those wires but nothing changed. My amp is a puny 40w x 4 so its just right for factory aps if you adjust the rca pots down on the lowside to the maximum the speakers can handle. It gives them cleaner higher sound not just blasting sound.

I wasn't saying you don't have experience so please don't take that the wrong way we get a lot of kids here that bought a system at wal mart and are ready to go to town hacking wires and such so that was basically to cover the basis and help keep someone who may not know better from destroying their electrical system especially when the stereo intigrates with other systems...

That said....

It is possible that those two wires are a remote and constant 12v source for a factory amp of some kind or they may also be incoming from the other sensors that the sytem is hooked too. I made a mistake installing the Pioneer in my wife's tiburon and hooked a speaker out put to the factory amps 12v remote. (I'm color blind and the colors were very similar on the harness.) but it took me a while to track down the problem and let me tell you it did some pretty screwed up stuff.

Ive been wiring systems since 1979...so thats not an issue..just lack of information. Factory manuals are 135 bucks and I was just trying to save myself the trouble to look at 1 or 2 pages..you know what I mean..anyway I,m going to get the manual and let you guys knoe what those wires are for.
it is an integration issue but how..that 3rd green wire and 2nd blue are the issue...what are those little buggers for? thanks for the info

Well I did some searching and the best I could come up with is that the cobalt's harness is screwed up because of it's intigration. I would hope that if you are putting in a four channel amp then you are replacing the stock speakers (cause you'll probably blow the stock ones). I would suggest if this is the case to check the wire configuration at the speakers and go from there.
I did also find out that there seams to be a factory amp that nobody can find and that's probably what those extra wires are for...

To sum it up I'ld say you've landed yourself in a shit storm and if you don't have a lot of experience with car audio (and I mean real experience no offense) then it may be worth your while to take it to a shop and have it proffesionally installed and possibly pick up a JL Audio Clean Sweep or similar product.

Hope you the best in your effort.

only got boost on tan/gray..brown/yellow..blues and greens have 1 extra wire?..strange...thanks for the help..

LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness
Notes: If equipped, the amplifier is under the center console.
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness

That's for an '05 Chevy Silverado. Closest thing I could come up with to your Cobalt.
Hope it helps, otherwise some other guys will probably respond.

cobalt factory harness to amp connection

I was wiring a jensen 4 channel amp to my cobalt factory system to gain a little boost. The harness has 4 sets of speaker wires but there are 1 extra blue wire and 1 extra green wire..anyone know what the cobalt wires are?
I only got boost on 1 side and the deck went dark either on the blue or green side..I switched back and got LF and RR. :help:
