we realize that. as noted earlier, the midbass in the XR 3-ways isn't that good.

i currently enjoy the hell out of my XR's, especially with the imaging from the QForms. what i'm missing is midbass. i'm not complaining about any other aspect of the sound from these drivers other than that. that's why the XR 3-ways seemed logical for MY situation. they would allow the midbass to be installed in the proper location for output, while leaving the midrange at an optimum location/angle for imaging.

If that's too much yfor you, I'd honestly stick with two-ways, because going with a cheap set of 3 ways isn't going to improve anything for you in the end.
I really gotta agree with Glass on this one... I've seen a lot of kids that thought that an affordable 3-way would make all the difference in the world and were upset when it didn't, and even thought that the systems tuning had to be off or something... but that's never the case.

those are both nice, but roughly triple the price. i would love to get those rainbows... but a grand? I don't know...

by GlassWolf » Fri Oct 27, 2006 5:07 am

consider a better 3-way set like the rainbow veladiums or dynaudio perhaps.

by two4fifteen » Fri Oct 27, 2006 4:31 am

they just call it a woofer on their website. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_comp ... omp_id=121
I'll call them as well to ask though.

either way, even if I can't order them seperately, I'm getting excited to try out this set-up. I might try switching my current 6.5" to the door to see how it does there with midbass response, that way I know for sure that it's worth buying the 3-ways. money is somewhat tight right now, so it may be a few weeks though. sucks.

by OnYrMrk » Fri Oct 27, 2006 4:14 am

Just make sure that the 6.5" is not a true midrange speaker. My K3P's have a dedicated 6.5" midrange, a dedicated 6.5" midbass and tweeter.

I am just saying that check on the JL's and find out if they have a dedicated 6.5" midbass. If so, you might be lacking midbass due to the frequencies that the current 6.5" woofer has to make up....both midbass and midrange.

you can purchase the mids (either 4, or 6) individually, aswell with the 3way crossover.
really? i currently have the 6.5", so all i need is the 4" and crossover. that would be really cool if i can save some money and only buy what i need.
