how does autotek relate to audiobahn?

by smoker » Thu Oct 26, 2006 3:11 am

well, the cool thing is that now with the demise of the audiobahn company, digital audio will continue on, purchased by an unnamed entitiy as of yet, at least unnamed to me, but here is the cool part, with the demise of a-bahn i was able to become an Autotek dealer.........

People are also realizing the ridiculous markup on most car audio equipment. You'll pay a grand for a component set that can't outperform $200 worth of home audio mid-fi drivers.

Plus, the cost and complexity of installations has gone nothing but up. Manufacturers aren't making it easy to upgrade your systems anymore. A few companies are trying to combat that with easy to install components, like braxials and such, and I definately agree with that for the average customer.

The biggest problem i've found is that kids nowadays want the bling value over the quality and don't want to pay an arm and a leg like half the Audiobahn line up is now... so you really have to be able to get a huge variety of products (at affordable prices) to compete... and still do other things on the side to make up for down times.
I don't want Audiobahn out of business... I just want them to lower half their prices... Besides that some of the companies that they parent over put out really good products at decent prices (you'd think they'd have learned something).

And somebody asked earlier if MA Audio was owned by them... answer: no

guy at our flea market sells orion, hifonics, pioneer, of course he also has a shop out in indiana somewhere

by joeyc » Tue Oct 24, 2006 7:38 pm

Damn flea markets!!

A guy I sold an sqx to said he had an amp, then called me and said he just got a sweet deal on a "dual" amp at the flea market and wanted me to install it....

I wonder if I would get laughed at if I tried to sell some quality equipment at the flea market? :o

Honestly, car audio isnt very big anymore. Not anywhere what it used to be in the mid- late 90's. But now days there are more choices in Mfgs, more choices in their lines, just to many options.
These Mfg's just need to stick to 2-3 lines and do it right.
Thats where Audiobahn fails.

i gotta agree with you here, i love audio but, i make most of my money doing window tint and remote starts. i am actually a dealer now for aftermarket cruise control kits specifically to try and get some business from the local scion dealer, they have been sending their cars out of state for cruise control kits to be installed because they dont even offer it from the factory.....nowadays it seems you cant just do audio, i also do car accessories, hell the biggest sale ive had so far this week was for a set of racing seats, the rest of the week i have 2 remote starts, 1 remote start alarm system, 2 tint jobs, and i audio job but , the guy getting the audio work done already has the amp and subs, he just needs them put into his new car.
