As for the consesus... sorry it got bad reviews for you g/f, but if she's just looking for simple without a lot of power, she'll be alright.
If she decides she wants to add on, then definately upgrade the H/U first :thumbsup
X2. For what it sounds like she needs, it will work out well. If you ever decide to upgrade, start with the HU.

I'm just wondering if it was decent, all she wanted it for was to listen to the radio and such. She isn't going for a killer sound system. I was just doing a little research for her.

I would pass on that crap.

I just took a look at the stereos and can tell you for sure that these units are made by lessor companies (a.k.a. boss audio and lanzar) and would not recommend to anyone wanting a decent head unit.
However some of the Best Buy Insignia stuff isn't bad (not car audio though),
I bought an Insignia 32" Flat Tube TV that's actually made by Toshiba... so when it comes to companies own brand names... do your homework first.

Man i wouldn't get that, at leas tbuy a sony CDTGT300 if anything. I've never liked major store's "own" line of cheap units. You could almost be better off with the factory HU.

Insignia is a brand that is only available at Best Buy. Supposed to be affordable quality electronics. I have never seen or heard anything about there product though. I guess just use it and see what you think.

You can read more about it here:http://www.insignia-products.com/default.aspx

I have never used, nor heard one, but am famaliar with the brand. No, it probably is not good quality, I could be wrong, but their subs suck big time. Do you have a link to the HU? Does she have expectations of the HU, or does she just wanna hear the radio. If thats the case, it should be fine, I am sure it was picked up pretty cheap huh? IMO Insignia<Roadmaster
