Just don't tell them that or ever show them what you've gotten or you'll be beating the pavement for a new J-O-B.
Employers like it when you shop the competition to see how they stack up...
They don't like it when you buy from them though.

This is a study guide for sales reps. This way they have a general knowledge of what's what... you know, so you can respond sensibly to that kid that walks in thinking he knows everything just cause he installed his own subs in a prefab box (that's probably still done wrong).
So it's an excellent investment for the new car audio sales person... plus if you take the test after studying a while and get certified it will open doors to other better jobs at better establishments even with little experience.

Lol, I think I did that the first time, except I had my eyes on Alpine when I went in there. I had looked at some products before I went to get them. That was also before I knew the slew of things out there.
I'm not trying to become someone who installs. Is that all the study guide is good for or is it for other things?

First off.... BE HONEST... If you pretend to know a lot about car audio they'll see right through you... So just let them know of your interest and willingness to learn and grow with the company.
Second, order the Mobile Product Specialist Study Guide from MECP, it will cost you $30 bucks, but well worth it and you can use it to get certified as a product specialist.
Third, be sincere...but firm. No one wants to hire a follower as a sales rep. They want leaders that have the ambition to sell and assist people in making up their minds to what they want and need. Most people walk into a car audio shop having no idea of the product they really want and if they don't get direction then they stare at the biggest, most expensive stuff on the wall, and dream... only to walk out and go to someplace else to get direction.

Good Luck ;)

Hey, I am going to be writing a resume for a new potential job here in the next few days and I need some tips. I am only 17. This is a job at a local car audio shop called "Custom Audio." I would be the sales guy, not the one wiring up things. I have no installation experience, and have worked at a fast food retuarant for like over 2 years. My only car audio experience is having been on here for a little bit and the interest I have and research on the multiple amps and subs I have looked at in my quest for new stuff. So basically, this is a job I really want so I need to make a good impression so I can get the job. It would only be part time since I am in school and all, and Custom Audio has a very small staff, like 4 people total maybe?
