there's really no problem with signal and power lines side by side, which has more or less been proven, but what you do want to avoid is running either one anywhere near ignition lines, or crossovers.

having signal and power wires ran next to each other is best avoided.

well cut a + in the pad and then drill that way you can cover the wire with the pad. be sure where you drill water won`t get in. what size is the wire? to keep a trouble free leak they have a water seal connector that`s for going through fire walls then the wire goes through it. you will need a step drill bit that will drill i think 3/8 to 1'' hole that connector is pricy. or do what i did go to home depot and get a electrical connector 5/8 it has a rubber sleeve in it you will need to make the hole bigger in the sleeve for the wire to go through

I would cut it and pull it back first.

ok, i could do that, but as i said, there is a LOT of stuff in front of the firewall under the hood on the drivers side... so i'm a bit affraid i would drill something, and cause a big problem.

Could someone possibly post a picture of how you have yours wired on the inside and under the hood?

Thanks.

Edit: there is also a foam padding on the inside on top of the firewall, is it ok to drill through that also?

Get out the drill

I looked around the steering column for someplace that the wires go through, but i couldent find any... the only thing i can think of is i am looking in the wrong spot.... i even look at the firewall from under the hood, and on the drivers side, there is a lot of stuff in front of the firewall, so even if there was one, i would have a hard time getting to it.

Now on the passenger side of the car, there is a spot where a bunch of wires go through, i could try to put it through there, but then the battery is on the drivers side, so i would have to run the wire under the hood to the other side of the car...

Please advise.

I don't have a picture, but if you look up under your dash you'll see that all the wires are run through a black maybe grayish looking rubber grommet.
If you don't have room enough to put it through there, you'll have to drill a hole in the firewall and use your own rubber grommet.

Quick Tip: After drilling the hole, put a little bit of silicone around it on both sides before you put the grommet in. This helps from corrosive materials getting in around the hole and it will not rust out.
