Try to get a replacement from Kicker or just replace them with another set of tweeters.

you can take it apart but will it work after words probaly not. a tweeter is very percise and very easy to F up but its already messed up so you wont hurt anything else.

if thats the case, is there anyway i can take it apart and check it out? what do i need to do to do it?

by GlassWolf » Sun Aug 06, 2006 6:30 pm

if it works when you're pushing on it, the voice coil lead is shot. it separated.
it's a hair-fine wire, and I've had tweeters that used to snap that lead all the time.
it sucks.

thanks for the tips guys.. the reason why i declared it the tweeter was because i took the "bad tweeter" and hooked it up to the other cross over and it did the same thing, although i did not take the other tweeter and hook it up to see if it would work fine in the other cross over, i guess i could test it out... i am about to get to the point to where i take off the speaker wire that was solder to the tweeter and replace it, although i do not have any solder, i could just strip the coating over the speaker wire for the hell of it and see if that does anything.. guess i better get busy, lol.. if anything, will it hurt to get a different brand of tweeters to use on the Kicker xovers?, also i dont think the problem is the gains, if that was the case id imagine the other one would be acting up.. although i will try it.. thanks.

First, make sure it actually is the tweeter. Even though it may seem like it is, it mgiht not be. Switch the crossovers and see if you still get the same problem. Then, check and make sure no wires are pinched or loose anywhere.

maybe the gain is set too high?

as some of you may know i got some components a few days ago.. Kicker KS6.2's for a great price of $83 shipped.. well for the first two days everything was cool... well now.. for some reason one of the tweeters is cutting in and out, and it IS the tweeter.. it cuts out, or plays real low.. but i was messin with it, and for some odd reason, when i push on the metal part on the tweeter(on the top of it) it works fine.. i am not sure what is going on here.. when i do that, it either fixes it or it gets real quiet.. so what do you think is going on here? maybe i should try to find some new tweeters(the same ones or different Kicker tweets, not sure if its good to mix and match tweeters with the xovers and all that.( or what.. any ideas? :help:
