wolf actually have you heard about pontiacs Hydroformed aluminum that they are using on the Solstice... Its almost perfect off the assembly line as far as the imperfections, the imperfections come when they try to make all the gaps perfect... which they never ever do anyway grrrr

Oh, well I've seen people do it before.. I was like good luck with that lasting.

no. you don't fill holes with bondo. you weld holes.
you use plastic body filler (bondo) to smooth and define the lines of the car, using a skim coat of the stuff, then block sanding it off till you just have the filler left in the low spots of the metal.
even fresh off the assembly line, sheet metal on car bodies has waves in it.. it's not "perfect."
The problem with this is that with a good paint job, anywhere light hits the car, and the body under the paint isn't perfect, you'll see it. The waves will catch the light and show up like a sore thumb.
You fix this by smoothing the body with bondo and using it to fill those low spots and even it all out (see pic of my car) so the paint looks right when it's applied.
If you want a shitty paint job though, hey.. skip the bodywork :)
You do realize that was a joke, right?

Oh come on, are you trying to tell me it would be a bad idea to shoot some 'great stuff' into a fist size hole and bondo over it? :scorp:

I'm going to have to go ahead and question your body man skillz... :happy055:

bondo is for slight imperfections and in noway should be used to fill holes of anykind or used over 1/4" thick in little areas or 1/8" on big areas.

can someone please explain what bondo is for and why you need to use it when painting a car? Isnt it to like fill in holes in the body? If so why do you need it if you have no holes?

Every day i was up at 4am and stayed out till 1ish went to Brice Road to watch the Cars show off and cruise do some burnouts... Im tellin you though you would have loved this one Charger that was there... H/S!! 1969 Black Charger RT looks completely stock cept for the Street/Track Rear Tires... Pulled a 10.39 In th 1/4 mile with some wierd looking Supercharger under the hood, I dont remember the name of it but im tellin u that was one badass Charger.

not recently. seems like somethine else always happens around that time, unexpectedly.

It's still not a far drive though from MI or NC, so I could go even after the move, most likely.
