i had this problem when i got my laptop. i ended up disabling the wep and just used the mac filter. not as secure but i'm not *that* worried. there are only 2-3other visible networks in my neighborhood.

Are you using your network passphrase or the WEP encryption code? It probably wants the WEP code, not the passphrase.

Hey guys I just got my Macbook...I'm trying to connect to the wireless network that my PC and my dad's laptop is setup with. The Mac finds the network fine, and asks me for the WEP pword...I type it in and it just says "problem connecting to network "tom"" after about 10seconds. The weird part is, I just typed in "test" as the password and it gives me the same message. I've been through some FAQs and some little troubleshooters but with no luck. I unplugged the modem and rebooted it, the only thing I haven't done is reset the modem, which I'm hesitant about, because I don't want to mess up the network.

Any ideas? Thanks guys.
