yeah. otherwise every other customer would be serving mp3's over p2p networks or running severs out of their bedrooms.

Although I really don't know much about it, my results were

download speed: 6188 Kbps
upload speed: 360 kbps

Damn Comcast llimits the upload speeds!

lol. sucks for youi :P we've had cable internet for damn near 7 years here

funny because charleston isn't a very big city.

since DSL and Cable just got to my areas 2 years ago, I think FIOS will be about 30 years from now for me :(

by GlassWolf » Sat Sep 23, 2006 11:58 am

see: FIOS

by Darthness » Sat Sep 23, 2006 10:38 am

it hsould be, considering everythings being rebuilt anyway :P

i was told by my data comm. teacher that you can sometimes request (and pay extra) your provider to give you a fiber optic line, as i belive they are fiber optic (maybe that sjust in cable) until they get to a box in your neighborhood, at that point it goes to coax to save money.

by William from NOLA » Sat Sep 23, 2006 10:02 am

The fiber optic lines are only in major cities right now, mine isn't one of them :(

by Chris from Washington » Sat Sep 23, 2006 8:07 am

I wish fiber was in our area, but I live out in the sticks so it will be a long time before that ever gets here :(

That's the best thing about DSL. I loved my DSL, but it just wasn't fast enough.

Cable used to be pretty crappy when it was first introduced and the following year or two, but today, I've had really good luck with it. I've never found any bandwidth problems in my neighborhood.

i just realized this wasn't off topic, lol

tell your phone company to give you a fiberoptic line.
