also make sure you hook the lighting up right because the display has day and night modes and if yo wire it constant it will always be in night mode which is a bitch to see in the daytime

ooohhhhh.....avic-n2...one of my favorites......make sure you get the speed sense wire right....

by swimmerdude » Mon May 29, 2006 6:35 am

ok, all of that was hooked up. But i think i should add that it is the avic-n2 which is the flip screen navigation unit. I called best buy(i know, not the best place, but the person sounded intelligent) and they said the hide away(brain) unit had to be plugged in... uggggg.

Yes there is a 12 Volt constant wire, normally yellow.

Sometimes there is another yellow wire that requires 12 Volt constant also

There is one red 12 Volt switched wire

There is one black ground wire

If these wires are hooked up directly to the battery (For a test all can be put on to battery + except groud ;) ) Then the radio isnt working...

If i remember correctly, on my brothers old alpine, we had to switch 2 wires to get it to work. This is a Pioneer so is there anything special you have to do for it?

by swimmerdude » Mon May 29, 2006 5:55 am

switched?? The ground was on too.

by Ryan from Ohio » Mon May 29, 2006 5:51 am

You need the 12V Constant and Switched also the ground.

Without any of the 3 it wont work.

Illumination is just a stupid wire. It makes the HU dim when your head lights come.

HU not powering up

Well, i dont have a problem but my dad and brother do. They are trying to hook up a new HU and it wont power up i guess. He said that after it not working when wired through the wiring harness, he hooked it up to a battery to see. Still wont power on, but he only hooked up like 3 wires... 12volt accessory, 12volt battery, and illumination. He only had those 3 wires hooked up so he could just test the radio. Do you need to connect all of them to get the radio to go on??
