Sweet! The Ford's are pretty tough trucks. My dad recently got an 04 F-250...but gas motor :attitude . I wanted him to get a diesel, since we do quite a bit of trailering, but he didnt wanna spend the extra bux. Cant blame him tho. I guess the 5.4 is all he needs. It trailers a lot easier than the old chevy 4.3 v6 did!

LOL, i'll have to post up pics of my brothers 1984 Isuzu P'UP diesel. That our mighty diesel in the fam. Puts out a whopping 64 hp :happy055: . Gets 35 mpg tho...so we dont complain.

Sounds like fun :D

I may be getting a diesel truck before all is said and done. I was going to get an F-150, but I've gotta take care of the wife first since she drives so much (works as a nurse for a home healthcare agency). She really wants a car, but it will get torn up pretty quickly at a lot of the houses she has to go to in the country. And I guess I'll be driving this Ranger into the ground before all is said and done. Can't complain, free truck.

And no, a Subaru won't make it either (thank god)

Yea i kno. My girlfriends father has a brand new dodge diesel. We're thinkin about adding on one of those Banks Power packs and an exhaust to start. Man that thing does smoky burnouts :evil001:

Even with turbos you can control the wastegate and release the extra boost when you don't want it.

The good thing about it is the most diesel mods are simply air/fuel modifications that you can control via presets on a programmer.

Hell yea...that truck is a beast! And i think it averaged 20something mpg!!!

Here's a link to the banks site. http://www.bankspower.com/sidewinder.cfm And it wasnt an HD, it was a dakota w. a cummins transplant. Still, quite an achievement for a diesel!

Pretty much any of those diesels can make a buttload of power with modification.

I think the fastest truck ATM is a Dodge HD truck with a modded Cummins. Ran well over 200mph on the salt flats.

Cummins is the most capable motor of all the HD trucks at the moment, it's built heavier.

HAHAHA...all great stories. I love hearing stories of lifted, Full size diesel pickups killing import boys. Saw a video once (cant find it) of a duramax, 4 door, short box, diesel smoking both a wrx and an srt-4 off the line (heavily modded, of course). Sure, they dont have much for top speed, but they sure can get there quick with a ton of mods!!!

In the most recent Diesel Power, i think there's a guy with a 2002 GMC Sierra. Looks bone stock but he's putting over 1000 hp and 1700 lb. ft. to the rear wheels!!!

This reminds me of a race I recently had against a 1989 Geo Metro with my Ranger.

I dumped the clutch and saw a small puff of white smoke, looked in my right rearview and questioned whether it came from the tire or tailpipe. As I turned my head around, I looked into my left mirror and saw that the Geo was inching toward me. I double clutched and hit second, then we hit a steep curve as both vehicles passed 30mph. Double clutched again and hit third. Redlined, threw it in neutral and pumped the clutch a couple of times since my slave cylinder is leaking a bit, then I hit fourth. Past 55mph all he can see is the rusted trailer hitch that some guy welded on a while back and the faded vinyl Ford lettering on the tailgate. It was sweet. Close race, but his 3 cylinders are no match for the almighty 2.3L lima and it's 80hp :bow

:D

That reminds me of a race I had in my S10.

This guy pulls up next to me in this Full size dodge. Keep in mind, I don't like dodge trucks, but this thing looked pretty sharp. New exaust, smoked out windows, all black and chrome. So when he reved it up, I though what the heck. I have a little bit of tweaking done too.

So the light turns green and we both drop it. He pulls me a little off the line, and as soon as I hit 3 grand I pull back up even. We hit second and same thing. He pulls me a little I hit 3 grand and pull even. So naturally I assumed the the same thing will happen in third. WRONG. I hit about 3 grand and start to leave him. The race ends a few seconds later and I am doing right under 100, and have him by about 4 cars.

So we hit the next light and I pull up next to him to say whats up, nice race. Well thats when I realize he has his girl with him. So this big bad guy, in his big bad dodge just got spanked by a lowered S10 (in front of his girl).

Yeah he wasn't very happy. Wouldn't roll down the window, wouldn't talk to me. Started smoking his tires showing off. So I just went my own way.

But it still brings a smile to my face.
