Gotcha.

So what about bass boost, keep it at 0? And turn it up whenver I want? IT also say dB on the side.

And how do i set the gain for my sub? Hear for the clipping?

How much does a dmm cost and is it easy to use? Maybe my local shop will have one.

I think I'm going to put both of them at 80. Or the bass at 80, and the speakers at 100. What do you guys think?
Assuming you are using 12"s, set the subwoofer LPF to 80hz, and the speaker HPF to 100hz, the rolloff will cover the 20hz gap in between.

Just in case.

HPF = High Pass Filter = everything ABOVE your x-over point is allowed thru, and everything below is cut at a set amount per octave.

LPF = Low Pass Filter = Everything BELOW your x over point is allowed thru, and everything above is cut at a set amount per octave.

Yeah don't put them both at 80. Its better to have a little gap.

X-overs don't cut off a freq, they basically turn it down more and more as you get away from your X-Over point.

So if you set your x-over at 80 for the sub, and 100 for the mids, you still have 4 speakers (or 3 if you have a single sub) playing between 80 and 100. Thats fine since you allowed some gap for them to roll off. Now if you set both x-over points at 80 you won't have that gap to allow for the extra speakers playing the same freqs, and will end up with a big unwanted peak in the 80 herts range.

Thanks Airforce. I should be able to set my frequency right now.

I think I'm going to put both of them at 80. Or the bass at 80, and the speakers at 100. What do you guys think?

As for test tone to download for the component set, I'd try a couple. maybe 500 hz, 1khz, 8khz. Just guessing. Try a few. The results shouldn't be too far from each other. However, you might hear more clipping in one than the other. better to be safe.

80 for the base would mean your sub will start to drop off after 80 hz. In other words, it will play 80 hz and below. On the other one, if you set it at 100, it will play 100 hz and above.

And for the frequencies. The knob on the front controls the high pass filters? Like if I set it on 80 for the bass, does that mean that it'll hit under 80? And if I set the speaker one on 100, does that mean it'll high from 100 and above?

Or if I set it on 100, does that mean, it'll constantly be on a 100 hz note?

If I'm testing the gain on my component set, which hz sine wave should I download? Sorry, it's all still kind of confusing.

Thanks guys.
