That's another problem. The area I live in does not really have many car audio shops. There's one down the street, but the selection of speakers is minimal at best. I'd be pretty much going off opinions I think.

bravox makes some really nice speakers http://www.bravoxaudio.com elevation has good stuff.

Yeah 5/7 are a poor overall design for a speaker. They suffer from the same cone issues that most ovals and squares run into.

I would look into some 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 components. They will give you the best bang for your buck.

Check out the good bad and ugly in the faq section. It will lead you in the right direction as for brand. The next thing is to go listen and see what your ears like.

just recently had my system finished in my Lincoln LS. I didn't have much money, so I did it on a budget. After the amps were put in, the speakers got very harsh and almost distorted at high volumes. I listen to a lot of of Metal and Hard Rock, and when the guitars start crunching the sound starts to get all jumbled together and almost sounds distorted at higher volumes. Can anyone recommend some smoother speakers whether 5x7's or maybe 5 1/4 components? I'll list below everything that I have. I know a lot of people have knocked Audiobahn and Infinity, but I didn't really research too much with the budget I had. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

H/U - JVC. I bought this mainly due to the fact that it had a front AUX Input, and I can play my Ipod through it.

Speakers - In both the front and rear doors, I have 5x7 Infinity Kappa 2ways.

Subwoofer - I have a 10" Infinity Reference sub in a sealed box.

Amps - The Kappas are being powered by an Audiobahn 6004T 4channel amp, and the Sub is being powered by a 2 channel Bazooka amp.
