terminal

by broosky333 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 6:35 am

a bad connection at the terminal? or on the amps?

by sinister audio » Mon Feb 27, 2006 9:44 pm

usually a bad connection will cause arcing and heat.

nope...they never touched it......i had my gains set high, but i think it had soemthign to do with the terminal touching for sure......i honstly don't know what happened that the terminal would melt..i mean i don't see how it'd get that hot in my trunk during the Minneota Wineter

having a dead short can be really hard on an amp and really lower its life alot of times they will burn out right away and sometimes a week later or so like yours might of. that shop didnt mess with any of your amp settings did they or do something so your amp would fail?

by broosky333 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 8:41 pm

i don't think its the cap cause i am running a 4 channel off the cap also....i am almost positive that its the amp that smellss....a few weeks ago my amp was going into protect and i found that the cub terminal on the box soemhow got really hot and melted so the the positive and negative terminals were touching and i fixed that terminal and the amp worked fine for a week and ahlaf at least and then now all of a sudden it stopped working.....got any clues what i messed up based on what happened to the amp before?

hopefully it's the cap! Take it apart and check to see if anything is blown!

That looks like a nice amp, I hope he didn't fry it. It seems more likely that it is the amp because the subs were working fine when he turned off the car, but I'm just guessing. We'll need to know more about how it is hooked up to determine what the problem is. I know he has a cap, so maybe there are some issues there...
