Yeah I agree Bill, 8 amps is pretty small for a new headunit.

by Bwcad1 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:13 pm

if it was on an older car with a non amped or an amped but weak HU the fuse would be smaller new headunits come with a 10 amp fuse so that is y i suggested he up the amperage.

just jam a nail in there it will work...............jk.....i dont like to go over the fuse that im replacing but sometimes you may have to do an amp or 2 just to get going again...

Ahhhh, its just 2 amps. I don't really see a problem with a change that small. I wouldn't sugest going much bigger than that though.

Other than that, it sounds like you have a wiring problem. Just like the others have said.

no dont go higher thats a nono you should never go higher.

go lower if you have to and cant find a perfect replacement...if it blows then you are gonna need to find the exact fuse, and if you cant do that, then i dunno, but i really wouldnt say go higher. not saying you cant...its just not the right thing to do

oh and Bill is right...if you are having problems with constant power then you are not dealing with the ACC, you're dealing with the battery wire. Does it do all this when the car is on? How about when using just the battery and the car is off?

try radio shack?

if its the correct fuse and blows again the unit is faulty or wired incorrectly.

by Bwcad1 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 7:23 am

ususally i dont think its a good idea to go to a higher fuse rating but in this case i think you should be ok give it a try. but if you not getting constant power that would be the battery wire not the acc wire.

it is a 1993 camry lumiere. basically i am not getting ne constant power to the unit. i can insert and eject a cd, press "display" to see the time come on for like 5 seconds, but it is not playing, after looking around, i found that a fuse was blown, its a fuse attached to the "accessory" line (red), its encapsulated in a plastic tube which u snap open. HU? are u asking me what brand is the cd receiver? its a JVC...i rellay cant remeber the model. I have installed a radio before..i belive its a poer issue now that im facing though..and the only thing that seems to be going wrong is that the fuse is blown..ive checked all th eoter fuses in the car..in the hoood and also in the dashboard..thx

are you sure what kind of car is it? how far did you trace the wire. what is the new hu your installing?
