actually i dont keep anything in store anymore its special order if someone wants it.

I dunno.. I had a pioneer premiere (top of the line model back in 92) that ran about $900. that one had a pewter-silver finish that bblended with nearly everything.. it was pretty (the one in the festiva pics) but the bright silvers are pretty gaudy.. I agree.

I don't like selling people what they want, when they have no idea what they actually need.. they end up returning and blaming you for not setting them straight the first time.. even though you know you're damned either way.

I'd rather tell them the truth and if they still insist, then go with their wishes. If what they want won't work I don't want to lose the spiffs and commissions because of returns.

Don't get mad at me, Did not intend to offend.

Anyway, around here we have a saying "sell them what they want not what they need." Again I am not impressed with what has come from Kenwood in the past couple of years, or most major brands for that matter. But people want what they want. Silver Face Radios  with every color known to man look awful :unwell028 in my opinion. But thats what sells.

I get tired of seeing fried kenwood amps and failed or falling apart kenwood decks, myself.. and their speakers never really impressed me in the least.
if you're happy with the kenwood stuff though, more power to ya

the same reason people will sell sony, audiobahn, boss, etc in the same store as arc, elevation, adire, etc... people go for the popular brands that they think they know. they see 1000w written on the cone of a sub and the box of an amp and think "dayum imz gonna get mad dbeez"

by Ranger SVO » Mon Feb 06, 2006 6:11 pm

If you think its bad equipment, then why do you keep it in your store? (just a question, nothing implied) And yes Kenwood is not what it used to be. We also sell Kenwood and the reason I still have a 2000 year model HU in my truck. The new stuff does not impress me much.

We keep it because it sells

i own a store and sell kenwood and their decks are crap compared to eclipse panasonic or JVC i wouldnt reccomend any kenwood to anyone. there is always something better for less out there.

By the way my last system consisted of a JL 1000/1 on two 12W6 and a 300/4 on two sets of JL XR650CXI. My kenwood stuff sounds just as good.

I work for a dealer that sells Eclipse, JL Audio, Boston, Kenwood, clarion, and a few other brands. For the last 10 years all I used was JL Audio and Eclipse. When we picked up Kenwood last year I was a little critical of the line. But after installing it I have found the (Exceleon) line to be very solid. I personally switched to a Kenwood 25th Anniversary deck (XXV-01D) and 2 Kenwood 25th Anniversary Amps (XXV-02A and XXV-03A) Hands down features like Amp control from the head unit (Temp, voltage, and amp status) and the cooling system on these amps is truely awsome. Im running a set of Boston Z series components and a Boston G5 Sub w/a G12 radiator. The amps sound truely amazing. Its easy to come out a say it sucks til you actually own it I would recommend Kenwood Exceleon line to anyone.

Get something more reliable.
ive gotta second ya there and it seems like it started about the time they went to, for lack of a better term the "3" series....823, 923 and so on....after they phased out the 821 and that line it kinda went crappy....although for what it was the kac-622 was a decent amp...not much power but good sound in its day....
