Why are we readily accepting that a 2v signal isn't as clean as 4v?
Can we define clean? Sorry to be so anal... but to a newb, concerned with SQ, the term 'clean' can be misunderstood.
Misunderstood??? Yup...
The only difference between 2v or 4v is in the signal strength... a HU with the capability of 4v outputs will drive an amplifier to full output with little adjustment on the amp gains... The term 'clean' could be misinterpreted to mean that the lower the voltage the higher the THD, or Noise Floor... not nessesarily the case at all...
A little experiment for the curious... play your fav music track & measure the AC voltage out of your RCA outputs @ normal listening levels... This will show you at peak times just how high your voltage to the amps gets.
