I keep hearing of the RE series of subs, but there are many types of subs out there. Look at Image Dynamics or Focal for a good sq sub. Since SPL isn't my forte anymore, I would listen to these other autosound guru's for help in that area. I have used the ID subs in the past, excellent sound quality, strong punch and I am currenly using the Focal Polyglass 33V2 in my sq car. I have also used Dynaudio subs, McIntosh subs, and Orion subs. Best overall sound were the Dynaudio subs, but at about 900 bucks each, I would stay clear if you are trying to save some money.

the polyglass 13" that I have, I paid 500 for. I highly recommend this sub. Just my .02 bud.

I think im gonna be waitin for the newer stuff from RE. I don't necessarily have the money just yet. I have decided to divert the money for an xbox 360 since i do already have a subwoofer. I need a better payin job and a more fuel efficient car so I can save money faster.

you could run a couple RE SE's... They're more like SQL subs from what i can hear. sound good, and get loud as well.

X2, but I just have an RE bonner. They would cost less then $400 dollars too. You couldn't go wrong with a 18 SX tho :)

yeah the SX is mroe efficient so it's louder with the same power, but it still sounds quite good.. just not quite as linear as the XXX at high excursion because they use completely different motor designs, mainly in this case due to how the field gap is addressed.

Well for SPL I do want a loud subwoofer but I also want it to sound good. It doesn't have to be the greatest sounding subwoofer. Would the RE SX be louder than the XXX but sound worse since it is more for SPL? I really want something that is loud because I already have a SQ subwoofer and I will only be looking to upgrade the SQ sub in the future.

the XXX doesn't "need" 1600 watts. That's it's peak continuous rating.

It does fine with around 800-1000 watts.

the pro works great in a small sealed like .8-1.2 with 500-600 watts. what do you want to get out of your SPL sub? I would suggest maybe the Bravox EDX 12 its an amazing sub and it will take that 1600 watts and keep asking for more. List price on there is 620 but you can usually get them for less since your a memeber of the board and plattys get theem for less too.
