I'd have told him you got his wife for a lot less than $2,600.. and she did more work than he was going to do to please you for your investment.

Then leave.

IMO that guy is either going to go out of business or barely survive with that attitude and those prices.

by Chris from Washington » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:24 pm

ya stay away from shops like that. If the guy is a jerk before you even pay for anything imagine how he'll be, when you come back with a problem.

by sinister audio » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:23 pm

for what that guy told you 2600 for it would only take the day if i had everything ready

by SSoonr » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:22 pm

hmm, 13 hour drive...

how many days would you need to finish it?

by sinister audio » Fri Jul 22, 2005 2:16 pm

come up to south dakota ill hook you up for alot less than that probaly like 600 or less.

Just to give yall an update. Here is what I requested the shop owner to do:
Mids in stock location, tweets on a-pillar, small amp rack to hide amps, fan the amp rack, install hu and ipod adapter, put a mesh screen over the box to hide it...

The shop owner was also a dick when I got there, bad day or something... then he told me he wanted $2600 to do it...

I replied: No Thanks

I had my tweeter mounted on the door where the A pillar meets the door when the door is closed...I moved it recently to be flush mounted in my door, about 5" away from the mid. It sounds so much better, my sound stage is a lot higher, and its just better overall. I'm sure it varies with the car/speaker type etc but thats my experience.

just pick about 4 places where you think you can mount them then wire everything up and tape the tweeter in each place and see which sounds best to you.
