I haven't posted on here in years and just thought I'd see who might still be around and reading. To whomever is still around- hey there!! I used to post from around 2004 to 2012.
My wife has a 2017 Infiniti qx30 (tiny crossover) with the Bose system. She listens to a lot of EDM and really enjoys bass. The front components aren't bad but the factory bass is very muddy (Bose, I know) and she wants a fuller sound and clearer differentiation in low notes.
The car has a factory sub that takes the place of a spare tire under the false floor. The hatchback area is small so I plan to remove the factory sub 'container' which is a round plastic box and either 1) build a small enclosure that will fit in the spare tire area, or 2) get a small pre-built enclosure that will fit that space. There's only 5 1/2 to 6" of clearance so a shallow-mount sub is all that will fit.
I have a new MB Quart RA1- 280.4 that's a 4-channel amp I was going to use for my car but decided on the something else instead. I may or may not power her front or rear speakers with the front channels and bridge the rear, or bridge both and power just the sub. Bridged at 4-ohms is only 140 watts per channel, but it might be sufficient given the space constraints and what she's looking for.
If I decide to use the MBQ, should I just look for sub around 150RMS, or get a DVC sub around 300rms and use both bridged channels separately for each VC?
I'm open to other ideas too. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
