I would keep the factory speakers and buy a enclosure, powered or non powered. But with a amp to push the sub. Stock car speakers are decent nowadays. You can always update down the road if it's not the sound you are looking for.

Mustang Shaker 500 replace

Good afternoon all, this is my first post here, so if it is in the wrong place....sorry. Anyway, I replaced the head unit of my Shaker 500 system with a Kenwood DPX500BT. I have not changed any speakers yet, hence the question. I am thinking of ditching the door subs for some midrange speakers and putting a powered sub in the trunk. Has anyone done this? Did you keep the factory amps to Drive the mids? I am not an expert, and I don't want thump or rattle, just good SQ. Any help is appreciated!
