What are the average gas prices now along 1-95 from Jersey to FT Lauderdale? I figure at present prices 150 regular 5 fill ups 18 gallon tank & about 320 to the tank. Or should I budget more?

Yeah, now that you mention it, I recall something about that too. They've definitely felt the pinch, but even if they did cut back, as soon as the prices move up again, they'll be right back at it.

From what I read, the Saudi's jacked up production hoping to make the fracking industry too expensive to survive.
Not sure if that succeeded or not.

I think the price was been atificially dropped inn the first place. Government subsidies or something. I don't know. But, fossil fuels are a limited resource and we consume it far faster than it's being replenished. It's just a matter of time before oil costs more than gold. Unless we come up with a good alternative or something.

Isn't most of the cost in other countries taxes though?

I know my state has been really pushing to increase the taxes again, since the costs have been lower. Hoping people don't feel it as much so they will get it passed.

the price per barrel has only been around $50 (now $3 per gallon), last month it was around $45 ($2 per gallon)
About 10 years ago it was over $110 range I think. $4 per gallon.

It just doesn't make sense why we've had the sudden price increase, besides the normal gouging I think is going on.

I don't see how the price ever got as low as it did. As it is, American's pay a fraction of what the rest of the world pays for gas. I paid nearly $6 per gallon in Italy back in early 1990. 1992 or 1993 I think. Maybe 1994. And here we are, 20 years later and still haven't come too close to that in the U.S.

Well it was nice while it lasted, but prices are soaring up again. It's been rising about .10 every other day here.
Looks to be the typical reasons again, refinery fire, strike, maintenance or some other convenient reason.

I actually saw it go up in the morning, then go up again later in the after noon. For a total of .15/gallon in one day.

On top of that, the price per barrel has been hovering right around $50 per barrel too.
