I have reasons which I'll list below but Bandpass is typically 6db's louder than sealed and ported is 3db's correct? I also i understand that BP's can be made to be accurate correct? (at least Soundman said so and did a build on his show) I know most pre loaded enclosures are typically lower end or lower quality but does anyone make a 6.5" or 8" BP that was designed to be as efficient as possible for lower watt systems and not just built to be cheap? I know Bazooka's ported tubes is rated at 102db's but their plastic tube resonates bad and is so thin and to me sounds like it's tuned a bit too high....I know what I"m asking is going to be more SPL but I was hoping for a lower tuned BP. I'm thinking around 50hz because my music doesn't go very low plus it's compressed.
Since I'll be using such a low watt amp and I'm not concerned much about SQ specifically considering the fact that my music is mostly 128 mp3's.
I was looking at Crutchfield's S/O brand of an 8" bandpass sub but said it's like 89db efficiency which is lower than Kicker's ported line which is 94. I'm thinking maybe that particular BP was built more for small size than output. Does anyone else make a BP just like that but larger for output? Or would Kicker's line of ported boxes actually be more efficient than any prefab BP I'll find?
Just so no one flames me death or gives me the pep talk, I do have reasons why I'm looking to get preloaded enclosures.
1. My car's alternator is only like 80 amp and is a small car. My 600 watt XD class D amp will actually make the lights flicker. So I'll be using a small 3 channel class d amp with less than 300 watt for sub.
2. I listen to rock and the better quality subs such as my W6v2 or Sundown SD's are really subdued despite they were over amplified anyway. Plus my music is MP3's. My front's are C3's and they sound really good so Im not concerned over boomy bass atm. Most of my music likely never goes below 50hz anyway so I suppose something tuned around that frequency might be best.
3. I don't have the tools nor facility anymore to build anything myself and certainly not anything as efficient as BP. Keeping the box small, I'd prefer 6.5", 8" or at least a slim sub if it's larger.
4. I'm not paying someone to design and build a box for me cause I really don't care that much about the SQ in my car specifically, I just like the bass to add some fun to the music
I just want something that's already preconfigured from factory to have high output at a decently tuned frequency if possible and efficient with low watts. To clarify I don't mind Booom, but I don't want that higher pitched "wah, wah, kind of boom if that makes any sense.
