because adire isnt making them anymore. and their changes to their product lines has driven one coustomer away. they went in a direction with those infoumas names they shouldnt have. a shiva is a 12" dual 8 ohm shiva damnit!! oh well. not my call.

i think the cutout should be the standard size but i dont know about mounting depth. they would be pretty cool in the door though.

hehe. not a prob. like I said previsouly the bostons response is decent without any subs going but as soon as I turn them on they kinda fade away!! LOL. and to be honest I am not so sure that the boston 6.5" is actually a tru 6.5" in total diameter. smaller I am thinking. havent measured it.
as for pouring on the power the bostons are said to take an astounding 500 rms per side. I am putting about 250 RMS (per side) to them now and the mids and tweets love it. the midbasses onthe other hand well LOL I could pop them if I ran them full range no probs!! LOL

funny you said that one as that is what I am now leaning towards. jsut not exactly sure about their rated 81 db efficency. seems awfully low.as for fitting them in there I dont see any real big problems :bigwink: just would be nice if RE would put up more specs on their drivers on the site. you wouldnt happen to know the depth of one of the eights would you? cutout diam and flange diam? LOL

you might be able to also make an RE sub fit into your door with out too much major work, well it would be alot easier than a soundsplinter 8"

Thought you wanted to stick with 6.5", sorry, I must've misread. If you could find an older IDQ 8" on ebay, that would work well. I haven't dealt with the specific speakers you linked, but Peerless and Seas make excellent drivers. Dayton makes great 8" woofers as well. I guess the other option would be a used Adire Koda, that would compliment the system as well.

dont take this the wrong way but I think you forgot the whole pourpose of my wanting to increase the efficency of that range!! LOL the 6.5 have to go, they dont reproduce enough to fit in with the rest. no reason to add to them as they arent going to be heard anyways!!
as for the center imaging/mounting idea of yours. that jsut wont fly in my book. I am not a hardcore audiophille in respects to what iasca competitors do but I would like to keep my stage on the left/right sides of the vehicle, not in the center to fwak everything up and confuse you where the instruments are comming form. this is not going to be used for sub pourposes, it is in the mid bass range. (yes there is a such thing as directional bass, esp in this range) I have plenty of sub to take care of the low end for sure.

BTW has anyone ever played with either of these?
