I do believe that if you want to carry/own a gun you should have to take the proper classes to do so. I also think that you shouldn't be able to own a gun if you have a history of violence (i.e assault, domestic violence, or any drug charges.)
They have dogs search the lockers and cars around here pretty regularly, I think it's mainly to help keep drugs out.
You realize all of what you said is already true right? I'm sorry your feel that way about the school gun zones.

all states set there own laws and again he is not being charged criminally he did nothing wrong criminally.

Dont you have to be 18 to own a gun?

Wheres the common sense at?

What I really want to know is why was the police randomly using dogs to sniff out weapons in vehicles around the school? This seems fishy to me.

It leads me to believe word got around and he got busted. Which might mean he was bragging about it.

In which case it serves him right.

I dont think people under 18 should be in possession of a gun without an adult accompanying them no matter the circumstances.

Kid's these days are p*ssies, they'll go on a shooting spree just because somebody hurt their feelings.

Guns do not belong in or around schools, there's way to many emo's and wanna be thugs.

The kid broke the rules, he shouldn't of taken his guns to/around school.

I thought you had to have the gun visible (like on a gun rack in the back window) unless you had a concealed weapons permit? That's a question and not a statement!
You read the article where it said the gun was unloaded right? Then your argument retains zero validity. I'm sorry, but i whole heatedly disagree with you. I carry a gun daily and so do about 250,000 other Ohioans. Do you know how many Unjust CCW shootings have happened in this state since its inception? 0. You know how many ccw shootings have saved lives? i can show you articles from 3 just in the past month or so...

By your ideals we should remove guns from anyone including those who have the legal right, have gone through the training, and have had an atf/fbi background check, those ideals are the reason we loose our gun rights everyday.

By your logic you stop law abiding citizens with the proper qualifications from stopping an aggressor. Do you think a person with ill intentions is gonna give a **** about some law in 1995 that keeps them from having a gun within 1000ft of the school? I sure as hell don't, o wait, how many school shootings have happened in the past 14 years? Man i sure am glad that 1000ft law has stopped thousands from dying.

The fact of the matter are these zones are ludicrous all they do is stop us law abiding citizens from protecting our selves and our loved ones. I wonder how many college students have passed there states respective ccw courses and had a ccw say at Virgina tech? The FBI and ATF ran those statistics 26 students with legal ccw's were within 1000yds of the Virgina tech shooter but whats really amazing is the fact that the shooter must have not read about that 1995 law that would most definitely stopped him from killing all those innocent people. Anyone of those 26 legal students could have put an end to the terrorism in that school.

I challenge you to find me where a legal CCW holder has mass murdered. The law is unjust plain and simple and your argument is extremely flawed

They should not have expelled that kid. I think they barely have a legal leg to stand on, if it goes to court it will come down to interpretation of the law. Because the gun free school zone act does talk about having weapons within 1000 feet of a school.

It will depend on how far he was parked, and how the judge interprets the "personal property" part of the law.

This isnt a criminal issue

what about people who live in that area? how is that legal? How can a school make a rule that says even out side of our property guns are illegal? Do me a favor bro move to one of those areas so i can break into your house and take your shit.
