^Basically.

I think this new system will work well.

I went to a local store and they have a similar clamp- without the saw adapter. Its just meant to be a straight edge and you run your saw right down it.

Truthfully that probably would of been good enough.

Now that I seen one, Im trying to think of why I would need that saw base plate anyhow? lol

so if its just a hobby, you invest what you can afford. if there is something you must have, you save up for it.

nope I have not. Thats much larger table wise than my uncles.

Theres absolutely 0% chance of me having a table saw, especially one like that. Nowhere to put it. Noway to get full sheets of MDF home.

If I had room for something large I would have a panel saw by now.

And talking about livelihood etc... Making sub boxes isnt a business by any means. Nobody wants to pay the money it takes for a box. Hell most people think they can get a custom box for $50 bucks- and thats expensive... lol

too bad you dont have the space, i really miss having my dad's huge table saw back home.....can't really do much in a dorm room, though it is a pretty good size (no roomate ftw)

Haven't used a delta unisaw or something similar have you?

I can cut a sheet of plywood so accurate that you can't tell its off w/ a tape measure (1/64"?)

Having a very large table right behind the table saw also helps (plywood goes right onto it after you cut it)

Where are you cutting stuff and keeping your tools now?

I guess if you don't have a garage or anything, a table saw isn't really feasible.

Like I said I have it cut over sized at Lowes then rip it down here. I have no way to get full sheets home anyhow. Not to mention I live on the second story... lol So i dont have much choice in this. I have nowhere to store a table saw. Pushing a 4x8 sheet thru a table saw is a joke also. I wouldnt even try it on my Uncles saw with extended table... lol

Ive been building enclosures with a circular saw for some time now. I dont have trouble doing it (I use a straight edge). It just takes time...

With something like this I will save time.

I ended up ordering the Amazon.com one. Under $60 shipped.

I went with it because:

1) Theres an actual clamp to make the unit SQUARE to the wood (the other didnt have this).

2) I can mount it so the motor is to the clamp side, taking the stress off myself having to hold it up when cutting.

I will do a review when it gets here. If it sucks to E Bay with it! Of I can use the clamp part and toss the saw bass. Hell the clamp part would be handy enough i suppose...

I'm an advocate of a good table saw. Or even a mediocre table saw with a table extension and good jig/fence added.

I've attempted to build a cabinet with a circular saw, and it just doesn't cut the mustard. When perfection is required, use the perfect tool for the job...

I've been spoiled in this respect, having these tools available to me since I was old enough to use them.

If it was a big enough part of your livelihood you'd cough up the money to get the right tools. It would save you time, and expense of having stuff pre-cut at lowe's. Check estate sales, and auctions - I see them selling all the time for reasonable prices (used).

That's true. I've had pretty good luck using a guide plate and a circular saw in the past, but having a table saw is pretty nice. :happy055:

Why not just get a table saw, you should be able to get a pretty nice used one off craigslist for that price.
