Guys, he bought these from a police auction...not from a white van.
True, the speakers are "white van" material, but, he is just stating that they were bought at an auction, not through a retailer.
I have to say though, just cause it is flashy, doesn't mean it sounds good. I wish you the best with this, but I wouldn't go overboard and get an amp that does even 1000 watts, I would work with a 500 watt amp, and work from there.
This forum is full of car audio enthusiasts, engineers, and competitors. Some of us have been in Car Audio most likely longer than you have been alive. I have been doing this since 1986. Competiting since 87.
While we try to direct you to better (ie: more reputable) equipment, the fact of the matter is that you have already purchased it, so lets make the best of a bleak situation. Buy a 500 w amp, don't go overboard, those speakers WILL NOT HANDLE MORE. Doesnt matter what the box said, or what the website says, they are shabbily made and simply won't do it.
Don't fiddle with the gain trying to get more volume out of the subs, it simply won't matter, those subs are possibly toast already, they were in a police auction.
if you purchase a power acoustic amp, you are already purchasing an amplifier that is 1000 times better than your speakers in terms of quality.
Just use better judgement when purchasing equipment from here on out. We are here to help, just don't push back when we say something that doesnt mesh with your view. We have been there, we have tried that, and we have learned from our mistakes.
