I think I figured it out, there is something wrong with the amp, the amp has to hook ups for subs, on the one side the negative is broken, the subs arn't as loud because only 1 was working, and the other side of the amp is the 1 pulsating, so there is deffinately a problem with the amp. so looks like I am buying a new one

no, they both have 2v pre-outs, I checked the specs of my old pioneer deh-p5200, and the 6500mp is 2v too. I think my amp is just toast. the amp is an old mtx rt2120. pretty nice amp it was for $150 new 4-5 years ago. Ill just have to find a good used 1 until I get the money for the system I really want. For some reason before I had all these problems my system before was a lot louder than it should have been. I have the mtx amp and 2 10" kenwood tornados, the old blue ones, and it was so much louder than my brothers 12" alpines, with sony explode amp. oh well, thanks for all the help everyone

Does your new Hu have the same output voltage as the old one? If you went from a HU with 4v pre-outs to 2v pre-outs, it will be quieter.

yeah they met at the amp, I was moving my box when I was vacuming my car, with the car power on, I had the radio on at the time the ground came out and and fell on the power wire. If it is the amp that would nake sense as to why its not hitting as hard as with the other radio because I have all thesettings on the radio set where they were on the old radio. My guess is I probably messed my amp up then.

i fried my rcas by disconnecting them while my system is runnin :nono :

Most likely the amp is toast if the two cables met at/on the amp.

Maybe not.

If the power wire touched the the ground wire directly then tons of current would flow, but primarily through those two wires. If the power wire touched the amp's chassis then you might get a good chunk of current running through the amp's internal ground plane, traces, or whatever. That might cause some damage.

If the subs weren't pulsating before the incident then yeah, something may be screwed up. Otherwise it might just be noise. I'd try redoing the amp's ground(sand, sand, sand the paint away). If that doesn't help try disconnecting the rca's while the subs are pulsating to see if that makes a difference.

It sounds like the the power and ground mixed at the amp, sending some power reversely through the remote wire; basically a combination of what lotas and Mithrandir said.

Most likely the amp is toast if the two cables met at/on the amp. You could have it looked at by an electronics repair shop, but you may end up paying more than you would need for a new amp in some cases. The same sort of thing happened to me with a Pioneer amp, except it was my own fault because I didn't unhook the power cable from the car battery.

remote turn on, maybe that could blow a fuse in the radio
