rewired my subs for 1.2 ohm load, now i need to adjust the system, my 10's are unable to hit some very very low bass notes.

by cool mr grinch » Sun Feb 01, 2009 10:28 am

i didnt want to run the setting at max, thats just what ended happening to get sound out of it, i never planned on keeping it that way. i always look for a better solution.

Ok, then I will disconnect one of my 10s which should drop the load to 1ohm readjust and see how it sounds, but my new problem is, my subs are 500 rms 1000 peak, i'll be hitting them with to much wattage, this is why i was asking the questions in my other thread about rated power at ohms, thats why i got this amp, 1300 at 2 ohms, so now i'm reading that if i run it at 2.66 ohms it will hurt the amp, so in essence i have purchased an amp to powerful for my subs.

Your playing the amp 3 times its rated load. your maybe getting 750 watts out of a 2000 watt amp because your not at the correct load. So your solution was to turn everything up. well now your clipping your amp and your destroying your subs and amps.
Same reason I changed to the setup I have. My amp is rated at 1100 watts RMS @ 1 ohm, I was driving 2 JL 10W6 subs each with dual 6 ohm voice coils. The best I could get was a 1.5 ohm load to yield about 800 watts. Sure it was loud, but not near what it could be without turning up the gains and damaging the amp. I switched to a single 12" Memphis MOJO with a dual 2 ohm voice coil and now can get the full potential of my amp.

The BD is rated at 2 ohm. its made to run at that load. the brutus is made to run at 1 ohm.

the rating at 2 ohms is 1300 watts, i'm running 2.66 which is giving me 975, the alpine runs 2v preout, how am i maxing it out? i have the gain set at .2v on brutus. i was running my power 1001bd on the same system same setup, but i didnt have to turn the gain all the way up and it hit very hard?

What subs are you running?

You cant wire some subs series and some parallel.

Its all alike or it doesnt work right.

Drop a sub and run 2 @ 1 Ohm and be happy.

Otherwise as stated something bads going to happen. You just cant run equipment like that.

If you want to run 3 subs get subs with the correct impedance to do so.

better find a place to have it repaired soon. Good luck with that.

i finally got pushing good bass, but i had to max everything out?

by Bwcad1 » Sun Feb 01, 2009 8:50 am

way to low for daily application. on a low note it would probably drop close to .7 and that would blow up the amp not to mention void the warranty.

Hey Bill, shouldn't the Brutus be able to handle the 0.67 Ohm load of just wiring them parallel?
I know others have run the Brutus amps at half ohm for short bursts of power on burps, but how would it hold up to the .67 as long as it wasn't clipping?
