That's what we're here for ;)

i had it checked out and turns out it was the subs.. i had it wired to pull too much power from the amp than the sub can handle. thanks for the suggestion

Are you sure it's the amp and not the subs your smelling... could very well be burnt coil/
You can use a larger amp than needed as long as you set the gains with a digital multi-meter for the required voltage (only wattage needed to properly push subs)
Link here how to set: http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7686

i just bought a directed 2400 watt amp but after running it for a short time it smells up my truck, and a litle in the car like its melting

If you were running 2) dual voice coil 4ohm subs in parallel off a 1ohm monoblock 3000w (RMS) amp then each sub would be getting 1500w.
So you should be looking for a 1500w (RMS not max) monoblock so each will receive 750w

i know some about car audio but i like to learn more. is there a way to run two 15's with a big monoblock? and how would the power split to the two with for example a 3000w

Exactly, you'd be better off buying a 1200 watt amp, and using the money you saved to have somebody build you a nice ported box, the outcome would probably be MUCH better...

Bill (Bwcad1) and Ryan (Ryan from Ohio) both design and build some really nice boxes, see if either have the time to design/build you one... :happy055:

The 12"s in a proper box can handle up to 1000w each, with much more making the lifespan of your subs short lived for daily use.
I was talking about the pair 1,200-1,500 for the pair...

EDIT: Wait, were you talking to me?

You probably only need about half that, say 1,200-1,500 rms.
