Well the amplifier needs to be repaired.

I have been talking with Bill and Perry Babin (author of http://www.bcae1.com) about this amp and whats wrong with it.

Given the damage I have found its suspected that the amp had some sort of power short. Like possibly something flexed/touched and shorted the inside causing the damage.

I started to test the FETs and will conclude that tonight.

Once I get it repaired I need to test it... Which becomes a problem. I only have 4 ga in my car nd I dont have any subs or anything available to me that can withstand 500 wrms @ 4 Ohms...lol

That was definitely a monster, but as Bill said, power hungry... big time.

Probably not?

Nothing is set in stone yet.

by Bwcad1 » Thu Nov 13, 2008 4:16 pm

basically the same thing. they will make about 3000w total on 3000 watts other than that on 12v with a couple batts its good for about 2000

Ya, Gotta repair it first ;)

I thought it was the HK4000D but its actually the HK-802SX with 4400 WRMS.

Hopefully its an easy fix...
